I understand that ambitious projects can require significant upfront efforts and some initial investment. To fund them I would like to discuss the introduction of the possibility to launch crowdfunding campaigns on Thingiverse. The creator/innovator will set a target amount to raise and invite the community to support the project. When the target funding is reached, the files will be released to every supporters and to the general public. With this mechanism the innovator will recoup the investment and the files will remain free after the campaign for download. The supporters could have specific perks to be defined. I will be curious to hear what these perks could be.
