Design Request: Custom Car Wheel Valve Stem Cap (Schrader Valve)

Hi everyone,

I need help designing a custom wheel cap for a car, as I am not very familiar with 3D modeling software yet. I plan to print it in a durable material for outdoor use (like ASA or PETG).

The inner part needs to fit a standard car valve (Schrader valve). The standard dimensions for the thread are usually 8V1 (0.305 in x 32 TPI) or roughly an M8 thread with a 0.794 mm pitch, but a standard M8x0.8 internal thread usually works well for 3D prints if there is a bit of clearance.

Main Design Requirements:

  • Internal thread: Standard Schrader valve (8V1).

  • External shape: [Describe aquí cómo quieres que sea por fuera. Ejemplo: Hexagonal for easy grip / A simple cylinder with ridges / With a flat top so I can emboss a logo later].

  • Dimensions: Around [X] mm total height and [X] mm total width.

If anyone has a basic customizable file (like an OpenSCAD script) or could spare 5 minutes to model the main body, I would highly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Is this real? An 80mm dia valve stem seems awfully big for a car or did you misplace the decimal? The size you specified looks more like something that would fit over a king pin locking nut for an axle. I seem to recall old cars had a metal cap that clipped over those but I haven’t seen anything like that for years.
I would recommend that you download a free version of fusion360 and create the design you want. All you need to do is make a simple circle sketch and extrude to the height you want. There are a variety of thread models that already exist. If the one you want isn’t there you can probably find it on line or just create a custom one.
