Thingiverse v2.112.1: Premium Manufacturers Map, Supporter+, car spare parts, and more

Hey everyone, we just shipped version 2.112.1. Here’s what’s new:

Highlights

  • Premium Manufacturers Map is live: Find manufacturing services near you, filter by what you need, and contact them directly by email or through their website. Check it out: https://www.thingiverse.com/manufacturers-map
  • Supporter+ is here: A new membership tier between Supporter and Family, with ad-free browsing and 50% off SolidWorks for Makers. Join here: https://www.thingiverse.com/membership/supporter
  • Hall of Fame is now Platinum Level Supporter: Based on your feedback, we renamed the tier. Platinum Level Supporters still get their spot in the Hall of Fame showcase: https://www.thingiverse.com/hall-of-fame
  • Car Parts: Things in the Car Parts category can now list the vehicles they fit (make, model and generation), plus whether the fit was tested. Parts that fit any vehicle can be marked as universal.
  • Education membership: Schools and educators have their own membership page. Tell us about your institution and we’ll get in touch: https://www.thingiverse.com/membership/education

New features and improvements

  • Homepage time filters have clearer labels, and the longest range is now “Last 12 months”
  • Supporter welcome email now links straight to your membership settings
  • Premium Manufacturer profiles: smoother photo gallery on touch devices

Bug fixes

  • Download button on Thing pages was failing with a network error, fixed
  • “Tip designer” button no longer leads to a 404
  • Profile photos uploaded from a phone no longer show up rotated
  • Magic link sign-in links were getting used up by corporate email scanners before you could click them, fixed
  • Family plan price on the membership page now matches what you’re charged
  • Page header now loads in browsers that block site storage

As always, let us know if you run into anything weird!

@ececen “Dropped”, not “shipped”. Websites and software releases “drop”; physical products “ship”.

I got caught off guard with this latest change. How or did you give members a heads up on this? Did the online projects stored in my collections get deleted?

Now that this is a paid subscription, I would like to see more details of the new features Thingiverse offers. I have been working with a few young kids to teach them the basics of building with shapes. If their parents are to support a monthly subscription, how do I even tell them what they are paying for.

You don’t have to buy a subscription to use it.

Might you be confusing Thingiverse with Tinkercad?

This is crazy…
