Think Flight Challenge winners

I’m honestly kinda disappointed in the winners selection, I get the drones, but a glider, really? I would’ve liked to have seen an rc airplane win, as they are much harder to design. (I saw several really cool and well designed ones)

Hi there, I’m sorry you feel that way. Our selection committee evaluates several factors, including printability, complexity, originality, and overall appeal. The first-place winner excelled in all these areas and more. While the design may seem simple at first glance, that is actually part of its excellent execution, in reality, it is a highly advanced model designed specifically for this contest. Achieving that level of quality and documentation in such a short timeframe is remarkable, which is why we chose to recognize it.

Now that you have a bit more insight into our selection process, I invite you to participate in our current and future contests. If you apply these principles, I’m sure we’ll see you among the finalists or even the winners.

Best regards,

Luis

I guess all parameters are count from the bottom line of printability, complexity and originality ? otherwise is hard to believe in giving first place spring launcher for piece of flat plastic for 5 meters. Drones are also cannot be original this days all designs based on same platform, and 3d printing-wise there is not match to print and engineering.

You can’t say you’re going to judge based on originality and then have two drones win the prize. I’m sorry, but it’s not original—it’s one of the most commonly 3D-printed items.
