Way to many adds popups

It was that anti-adblock script, it uses obfuscated code to check if a particular domain is blocked and kills the page if the domain is blocked, popping up a dialog that says there’s an error. Then it goes to error-report(dot)com which triggers my antivirus.

Guys, I know thingiverse always run on ads to stay free. But it’s something you should master perfectly by now. So why on phone I am not even able to close the ad. It stays right in my face with no option to close it.

I don’t expect improvements as I don’t like my mini factory. Printable seems more suitable if you can’t fix this.

Sad thing is he don’t need adds to run a website if u pay for it just pay for ir y make is not usable just to look cool for people till he gets called out for being cheep

Printables is funded by prusa, and it’s a wonder it’s still around. Cults takes revenue from sales and some ads. I’m on thingiverses side on this discussion, since I know it;so the only way to keep the site up, unless they start charging people.

It’s not about choosing a side. How you close the add on the main page. I can’t. No cross. Nothing just pop up overlay. Unusable

No he can still keep it up he’s just being cheep and he’s bin called out bc of this same thing before and it’s sad u think it’s ok to hide a free survive behind a paywall when he sed the website will be free and open source

Ok how do I do here?

I try to turn it’s not better.

And u will end up all over the world again bc if u hide it behind a paywall I’ll be boycotting this website bc when u started it and told everyone u sed no paywall but like everyone else in this world all u want is money like wow

Yeah, i am usually friendly to advertising as long as i cannot still scroll.

here the popup refresh like every 15s or so , i try turn my phone, it don’t see cross to close it… i have open about 20 times this unwanted advertising, or at least stay sideway… i think many companies are willing to advertise on thingiverse… we don’t need random cookies like that. it’s just really really bad. beside - this stupid advertising in french is not even related to 3d printing world… so useless.

You should try an ad blocker

Any way to not display ads when a user is logged into their own account and not searching the site for models. I find it a major distraction when I am attempting to view my own designs or add new ones when I am constantly bombarded by ads. I am seriously thinking of removing the content I have posted because of them. I don’t have an issue with ads in place for users who are simply searching for items to print but I do not believe it is fair to those who provide content (the real reason people use the site) to be charged (dealing with ads) for the work they do for free.

Just to clarify, you’re talking about ads on Thingiverse - Login and Designs - ksihota - Thingiverse?

Yes, When I log into Thingiverse to add new designs or review my existing designs I have to deal with adds on the top, bottom, sides and others that block my screen. I can just close them down but its the extra clicks to close them down in order for me to add new content. eg of centre screen ad

bottom screen ad

Side ones generally display a video of some kind. Like I said, I can close them down with a click but they are a nuisance and pop up at random times. Maybe they appear depending where I am on the site? I have not done any intensive research on the why and when.

Edit:

I have been watching the ads more carefully, and although I am not 100% sure, it appears that the ads that display on the left (usually some little video clips) and the ad bar on the top, display when I am logged in but searching other user’s pages. The bottom ads and the full screen ads happen when I am logged in and interacting with my own pages.

Thingiverse should have a view on the ads on the bottom. Thingiverse is blocking login as well as logoff with ads. And yes, you can hit the x and hope this will work for 5 seconds. But the button will not work. After pushing away the next adv, you maybe lucky this time.

BTW: I would show the log out problem too but “An error occurred: Sorry, new users can only put one embedded media item in a post.” so try it yourselves.
